5.2 What Is Scrum?

5.2 What is Scrum

Scrum is a framework that helps individuals, teams, and organizations create value in a complex world.

Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland created Scrum through their work with teams in the 90s and later corrected and adjusted several times.

"Scrum" refers to rugby, where a team moves the ball up the court together shoulder by shoulder.

The short version of what Scrum is can be explained as follows:

1.     A group of people has an idea that they would like to bring to life

2.   They set a date for when they will show it to someone, a maximum of 30 days in the future

3.   They work on making one or more increments

4.   They show their work to stakeholders and have a dialogue about how we best adapt the forward-looking plan

This loop repeats as long as it is valuable to continue.
